I've been practicing the law of attraction for 7 years now, and letting go and detaching myself from desires has shown me how much faster things manifest.

Not only do they manifest quicker, but they manifest in ways I would've never guessed or allowed if I was holding the desire like a 3 year old holds a little frog, which is to say smothering the life out of it!

We have to trust, open our hand and enjoy the beauty of our desire fulfilling itself in ways we could never imagine. Let's discuss how exactly to do this.

Law of Attraction & Letting Go

I used to really struggle with this concept because I felt it was crucial to keep my desire front and center in my mind in order for it to manifest. What I was really doing was doubting. The truth is that letting go doesn't mean forgetting–it means to live from a place of knowing without worry that your desire will manifest.

Letting go, at its core, is having faith in the unseen. You don't worry whether the sun will rise tomorrow or not–you have faith that it will and you make plans for how you're going to enjoy the day.

When you feel the need to constantly repeat a desire in your head to make sure Source has heard you, it's because you aren't having faith that the all-knowing, all-powerful Source has heard you.

So how do you have more faith? What if you're in a scary place and this feels like a life and death matter? How do you calm yourself down enough in order to let go and trust fully?

It helps tremendously to first understand the nature of your very being and Source.

    Who You Really Are

"I'm inviting you to be receptive to a radical new idea about yourself. It's radical because ever since you left your mother's womb, you've been subjected to cultural conditioning designed to help you be content with living a "normal life" at the level of ordinary consciousness, which generally means accepting whatever life hands you. In many ways you've been programmed to believe that you do not possess the wisdom or ability to manifest the fulfillment of your wishes and desires." - Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, Wishes Fulfilled

To understand who you really are is the first step to letting go. You are consciousness, a piece of Source, who has come into your current body to experience life and feel the immense joy of your manifestations ever-expanding you.

I see it in three parts, simplistically put. The awareness that is experiencing through your senses is your inner being–a very small portion of all that you are that is inhabiting this earthly body. Your human ego is sort of like this little parrot that sits on your shoulder and hawks fear and doubt into your mind (it means well), hoping you will agree with it. And then you have your highest self, which exists in the non-physical but is connected to your inner being. It is always with you and always will be no matter how far into the dark you stumble.

When your inner being observes a thought, your highest self will let you know the truth and validity of that thought based on the emotion you feel. When a thought feels bad, it means your higher self is saying "you are not in alignment with your own desires."

It's like playing a game of hot and cold. The worse you feel, the more untrue the thought is. The better you feel, the more truth it holds. Try to remember this when you're having any dark moments of fear or doubt.

    Here are some examples:

    "I'm such a selfish person." → Feels bad = Isn't true

"I can be easy about this." → Feels good = Is true

    "I'm afraid of ________." → Feels bad = Isn't true

"I have the power to heal myself." → Feels good = Is true

How to Let Go of a Desire

So if letting go means trusting and you understand your infinite, powerful nature, then the next step is to open your hand.

You came here for the joy of expansion, which means you came here for FUN. You did not come to suffer (at least not for very long). Yes, the contrast helps us to define what we don't want so that we can more powerfully launch ourselves into what we DO want. But you didn't intend to come here and spend most of your time in the contrast.

You've got contrast which has really enhanced a certain desire. This desire feels good when you think about it–maybe it brings you relief, or excitement, or joy. This means your highest self is on board with this desire and has already become it. You already are whatever you are desiring and now you just need to allow it into your tangible, physical reality.

Again, do you need to think about the sun rising all day in order for it to continue to rise? Or does it just rise? So do you need to think about your desire all day in order for it to manifest? Or does it just physically manifest because it already is?

Your job is to enjoy your life and that's it.

You get out of your own way by focusing on enjoying each day. Knowing that your desire has already manifested on the non-physical plane means that the more you enjoy your day, the closer in vibration you come to your own manifested desire.

Your desire is vibrating in a really feel-good place...so you need to get on the same page with it and you can't do that if you're sitting over there in the dark with your ego, not trusting that it already exists.

Below is a ritual as well as a daily practice that you can use to help in letting go of your desire. What all of this really does is get you into a place of thinking from your desire rather than of it. Once this has occurred, you have let go because you have became it, even if it's not physically manifested.

    Letting Go Ritual

This isn't so much of a ritual as it is getting clear on your vision of what you would like to experience next in your life. Experiencing what you don't want has given you a new desire of what you do want, so now you can focus in a little more if you want to.

What do you really want? If you don't know, you can make a list of everything in your life currently that you don't like, and on the other side of your paper you can write how you would like each of those things to be.

How will this thing you want make you feel? As my favorite teacher Abraham-Hicks always says, the only reason you want what you think you want is because you believe you will feel better in the having of it. What are the main emotions you believe this desire will bring you?

It's helpful to clarify this because the simple step of knowing how you want to feel actually helps you to conjure that feeling within you. When you do this, the law of attraction begins bringing you people, situations and events that match the vibration of that feeling.

Declare your desire. Write your desire out. What is it you intend to manifest? What will that look like? You could even write it in present tense as if it's already happened. State how your life looks now. What are you able to do now that it's manifested?

You can do all of this in a journal or a piece of paper that you keep in your nightstand, it doesn't matter. I have a law of attraction worksheet bundle that you could use as well if you prefer more structure.

The point is that you write it out. It helps to clarify and cement the direction you want to move towards. Your highest self doesn't need this because as I already mentioned, it has already become everything and more that your spark of desire ignited. This action simply helps you feel into it more so that you can become one with it and join the party where your highest self is already hanging out.

    Daily Letting Go Practice

Once you've clarified an intention, this is an easy daily practice you can utilize to help you let go so that you aren't stuck worrying or doubting all day long.

When you first wake up, you have a chance to set the tone for your day. For me, it's a really important time to connect with my highest self in order to enjoy the day to the fullest.

    My three top things are:

    1. Nurture the mind (meditate, visualize feel-good things)
    2. Appreciate what I have already
    3. Enjoy my day

To nurture the mind or connect with your highest self, spend time alone. Around 15 minutes is great. Sometimes I meditate (I love the Breethe app), sometimes I fill out a morning worksheet. This is the time to day dream about the vision you have for your life. You aren't smothering or choking the air out of it. You are basking in the feelings of what is physically on its way to being manifested.

To appreciate what you already have, think of all the good surrounding you right now. Did you wake up to another day? Are you able to connect with others, or look up at the beautiful sky, or read a delicious book? Do you have arms that let you hug someone precious to you? Legs to take you to the coffee pot? How fantastically awesome.

To enjoy your day, follow what feels fun. Does that invitation light you up? No? Then nah, skip it. Does that book stand out to you? Then devour it. Does that person's beauty take your breath away? Then tell them.

It's like you're in one of those "choose your story" books we used to read when we were kids–you are constantly being served up options and you get to choose. What feels good? Go in that direction.

What I like about a daily letting go practice is that when you spend time alone nurturing your soul, you have the chance to bask in the vision of what your higher self has already become. You aren't forcing anything or worrying about it all day–you're simply enjoying the feeling of it for a few minutes. And then, you're off to enjoy the day.

This is how you let go while still enjoying what is yet to manifest in the physical. And the truth is that you wouldn't even need to visualize if you didn't want to. Choosing joy, ease and fun throughout your day would yield unending delightful manifestations.

    In Conclusion

Understand how powerful you really are. I suggest reading any and every book that affirms this truth. I've written a few and these are my favorites from other authors.

The more you do this, the more your reality shifts because your faith is constantly being bolstered. You just start believing without a doubt how powerful your focus is. The less time you spend allowing bad-feeling news, conversations, books and shows to dominate your attention, the more swiftly your reality will change.

Bask in more gratitude, love and joy. The more you choose things that feel good, the higher your vibration gets and the easier you step into everything your highest self already has become.

Great information on how to make the law of attraction work more efficiently, something to keep in mind when manifesting abundance. I discovered a while ago that resisting something is not the way to go because the more it will persist. Instead when drawing more attention towards the things that make me happy, it is much easier to let go of ideas that do not promote happiness.

I'm new to all this. Ive watched a lot of videos and read some books... What I cant quite work out in me or understand is what do you do about a desire that seems outside of your moral convictions? What if it manifests you can't step into it? Does it mean you werent specific enough? Does it mean your convictions arent valid?

This is a very informative content. A different way of presenting the law of attraction and a great tip on how it will work even better. I love the part where you said, have faith in the unseen. It is really comforting because there are so many times that uncertainty can be a big hindrance into getting what we really desire and letting go of that fear would really be a great help. I love this perspective. Thank you for this.
