    The Freedom of Letting Go: Releasing Attachment to Outcomes

    Letting go of something we deeply desire or wish to experience can feel counterintuitive, especially when the law of attraction works in a fashion of receiving what you focus on.

    And yet, letting go and releasing attachment is needed to lighten our energy so that we bob up to the frequency level of our desire. 

    In this article I’ll discuss how letting go actually increases your magnetism and one piece of key advice that I received that shifted my whole perspective around this topic.

    What is letting go of attachment and desire?

    Letting go of attachment and desire is another way of saying you trust that it’s already yours, therefore you don’t have to dwell on it constantly. 

    Do you constantly think about things you already have? Probably not too often, because you know you already have them. The very fact that you’re clinging to a desire is a sign that you believe you don’t have it. 

    So when we talk about letting go, it is not synonymous with “giving up” as most people assume. Letting go means you’re stepping into faith in the unseen. 

    What you’re actually letting go of is your mistrust, lack of faith, and fear. You are releasing the negative thoughts and worries that are keeping you out of the frequency zone of your desire. 

    We typically don’t desire what we already have. If anything, we appreciate it and feel immense gratitude for it. 

    Imagine the shift of moving from worrying about receiving something you desire to feeling gratitude that it’s already a done deal. 

    The power of releasing attachment to an outcome

    When we release attachment to a specific outcome, we increase our chances of receiving an outcome that is beyond what we could've ever imagined on our own.

    You think you know the best outcome for you, but when you start letting go and watching what happens, you quickly begin to realize that some part of you knows infinitely better what you want and need.

    In letting go, you never receive less; it’s always more than you could’ve possibly imagined and manifested in ways that benefit you for years and decades to come. 

    I have been shocked and delighted years later after something manifested to see the way it continues to cascade blessings in my life that match my current desires and needs.

    For example, manifesting a part-time job that paid more money than a full-time job. Years later this job continued to work in my favor as I moved across the country, continued to generate income even during the pandemic while everyone was at home, and made it so that my children always had childcare during family events that transpired a few years after that. 

    It was a manifestation that kept on giving. If I had had a specific outcome to what the job had to be, I might’ve missed the opportunity to be given this other manifestation that my higher self knew would support and benefit me for years to come. 

    How to let go of attachment to an outcome

    I’m going to share some perspective shifts and practical ways of letting go of attachments, desires, and outcomes. 

    All you need is some mindset tweaks, honestly. Once this happens, you’ll begin seeing actual proof of it in your life, and from there, you will just know how this works versus it being a theory. 

    The frequency of letting go 

    Imagine different levels of frequencies in the universe. The wanted, positive things are up in the higher levels of frequency that feel good. The unwanted, fearful things are in the slower-moving frequencies that can feel a bit more of a drag. 

    When you’re in a state of anxious desire, where do you think you are? You’re swimming in the lower frequencies. (Not to despair because we all drop down into those a few times a day). 

    We can move between these frequencies quite easily, and all you need in order to manifest is a few powerful minutes up in the higher frequencies each day. 

    When you let go, you’re in a state of trust. So even if it’s only for a few minutes each day, you’re catapulted into the higher frequencies where all things you deem good are drawn towards you. 

    This is why you can even think about kittens (if you love kittens) and boost yourself up into the higher frequencies and receive the desires that you’re not even thinking about. 

    The bigger the desire, the more certain it is

    So now that we’ve established that letting go puts you in a higher frequency to actually receive, let’s talk about the fear around not focusing on the desires we want so much. 

    This is the most common fear when it comes to letting go, because we worry that if we aren’t actively thinking about our desire, the universe will think we don’t want it anymore and it will fade from being a possibility in our realities. 

    I heard Abraham Hicks, one of my favorite spiritual teachers, say something that shifted my perspective completely. They said that the bigger your desire, the more of a sure thing it is to happen.

    You do not have to think about something constantly to let the universe know it’s a big desire of yours. In fact, you only have to feel it once and it’s known. This is why it’s safe to let go of your attachment to that wanted desire because the creation power behind the moment the desire was born is so great. 

    The only thing holding back your bigger desires is simply your own doubt and mistrust in them happening. You likely don’t doubt the smaller desires you have, which is why they typically show up quicker and easier. 

    But it’s not because big desires are any harder for the universe to deliver than the small things, it’s just you doubting and trying to figure out by yourself how to bring them about. 

    When you let go of a big desire, you can rest assured that you’re actually letting yourself raise in frequency to where your desire is already manifested. 

    How to practically let go

    Knowing what we do, how do we practically apply this information and let go of our desires on a daily basis? 

    Letting go involves reminding yourself consistently that you can trust it’s already on its way. You don’t have to spend another moment wishing, clarifying, visualizing, or anything of the sort (unless you want to do it for the pleasure of it), because you know it’s going to show up any moment in the most beautiful way. 

    At first, you’ll have to remind yourself often when you feel the old doubts and thoughts coming up. If this is your first time consciously manifesting something and you don’t have the actual experience of seeing this work, just tell yourself you have nothing to lose by trusting. Treat it like an experiment. 

    If it isn’t your first time manifesting something, remind yourself of the previous manifestations you’ve consciously attracted and the way they blew you away with how they showed up.

    When we’re in a state of doubt, we’re looking down at the ground trying to find the butterfly that is flying above our heads. Look UP: this means to trust, know, and believe in the unseen. 

    Let go of the doubt, and embody trust. This is the true meaning of letting go when it comes to the law of attraction. You are moving from a place of doubt and strong attachment into a calm, centered place of knowing it is done. It’s just a matter of timing at this point.

    Do this instead 

    All of the great spiritual teachers talk about the power of feeling good. Feeling good puts you in the higher frequencies and lessens the power of your doubts and worries. 

    So when you find yourself thinking about how you don’t have your outcome yet, or you’re worried about how it’s going to happen, think about something you could do in this moment that would make you feel good. 

    It could be going for a walk, reading a book, making some yummy food, watching your favorite show, journaling, or taking a nap!

    Following what feels good is a natural way to let go, because it shifts your energy and focus. It’s all a practice. Also, it’s all a choice. We always have the power to choose what we want to focus on at any given moment.

    Do you want to send energy toward your doubt, or let go and lighten up, even if just for the next hour? (You can go back to being a worry wort if you want after the hour is over if that appeases your ego mind). 

    In conclusion

    When it comes to letting go, we are choosing to trust that what we desire is already on its way. Like when you give your order to the waiter who then takes it back into the kitchen. You don’t sit there the entire time doubting if you will get your food. You know it’s coming one way or another; it’s just a matter of timing. 

    So you trust and enjoy yourself for the time being. Enjoying where you are while trusting that your desire is on its way boosts you into the higher frequencies where all good things are. You’re then in a state of flow that allows the universe to bless you with even more.
