The mind-body-spirit connection is real, and when you understand how it all works, you can more fully step into your own power.
In today's article, I'm sharing what exactly is the mind-body-spirit connection, how they're interrelated, and how you can use this information to your benefit (like healing your body, raising your energy, and creating new realities).

What is mind body spirit?
When mind, body and spirit are in harmony, happiness is the natural result. Deepak Chopra
Let's first establish that you are not, in fact, just a heap of solid matter on planet Earth, either separated from a God or just a fluke in evolution. We think our bodies are solid, but scientists have already discovered that under a microscope, we're pretty much just empty space.
We are energy, plain and simple.
In order to begin to understand what the mind, body, and spirit are, we have to step back from the old beliefs that mind and body are separate. We have to begin to look at everything from a new perspective, one that is a bit more mind-bending than what the mainstream would have you believe.
Simply said, the mind-body-spirit connection refers to the way in which our well-being is affected by our mental, emotional, and spiritual health.
Mind Body Spirit Definitions
This is the way I've come to perceive the difference between the terms:
Soul: The soul is sometimes mentioned in the mind, body, and spirit connection, and so I want to include it here. I see the Soul as who you are at your very core. It's the larger part of you and is the storehouse of everything that you've ever been, are now, and ever will be—all simultaneously. It is the I AM.
Spirit: I heard a great analogy that if the soul is like the computer, the spirit is the wifi. Your spirit is what's broadcasting you into this body. It's your energy/chi.
Mind: The mind is the tool you use to create and manifest your reality, and that can intentionally direct your consciousness onto thought-forms that you choose. The Ego lives in the mind, and its purpose is to integrate you into this reality, to make it feel more real so that your soul can experience itself here, but it shouldn't be given too much power, or else it can wreak havoc. Most people are operating from the ego, which dwells mostly in fear instead of the mind, which dwells in the present.
Body: The body is actually more like a hologram that is affected by spirit and mind. The more life-force energy you have flowing in, the healthier your body. The more you have cut off that energy through consistent negative thoughts and emotional patterns, the less vibrant the body.
How are the mind body spirit interrelated?
We are embodied spirits and inspirited bodies, (or, if you will, embodied minds and minded bodies). Anonymous
Essentially, the mind affects the flow of your spirit, which in turn affects the body.
With our minds, we can choose either bad-feeling thoughts or good-feeling thoughts at any moment. These thoughts create a corresponding emotion, which either raises or lowers vibration.
When our vibration is higher, the mind and body are in harmony. When our vibration lowers, the mind and body become out of balance and the body begins to show signs of energy disruption.
All dis-ease is energetic. No symptom, no matter how small, is a fluke. And no dis-ease, no matter how big, is incurable. It is simply a matter of energy flow, which is either being allowed or disallowed by your thoughts and emotions.
What is the difference between mind and spirit?
I view the mind as the looking glass for the soul, where it experiences and sees itself. The mind is the energetic field connected to the Universal Mind. It does not think thoughts but can pull them down from the field and choose to utilize them or not.
The spirit is the energetic waves and vibrations that bring life to your body. It's your essence, and it's fed by high-vibrational thoughts and feelings. This is why being intentional with your thoughts and emotions either feeds or starves your spirit.
Your spirit is naturally joyful, loving, and appreciating. When you are open, you allow your spirit to flow. When you close it off with bad-feeling emotional thought patterns, you don't allow the flow to happen.
Stress causes the cells in your body to mutate and die. Joy causes them to regenerate and function exactly as they naturally know how to do.
Where is your spirit located in your body?
The heart and the brain maintain continuous two-way dialogue, each influencing the other's functioning. Although it is not well known, the heart sends far more information to the brain than the brain sends to the heart and the signals the heart sends to the brain can influence perception and higher cognitive functions. The heart also generates the strongest rhythmic electromagnetic field in the body and this actually can be measured in the brain waves of people around us. Dr. Bruce Lipton, Cell Biologist
Your spirit is pulsing through every part of your body and emanating vibrational waves that extend much further all around you.
The heart and brain regions generate the most energy. But something that's fascinating is that neuroscience is now finding that the energy of the mind can be recorded on the outside of the body.
Spirit is located not only throughout the body, bringing life into it, but is also in the field surrounding it.
How does the body affect the mind?
The body does not affect the mind, as it is only a reflection of the mind. The mind affects the body with its thought patterns and emotional feelings.
The cells of the body are always responding to your thoughts, beliefs, and feelings. They become trained by emotional and mental thought patterns, and they can become trained to a new pattern if you want them to.
This requires becoming conscious of your thoughts and emotions and being more intentional about how you feel and think.
Can your mind heal your body?

More and more studies are being done in the field of science that prove the mind can actually heal the body by thought alone.
A fascinating, documented case was that of Anita Moorjani, an Indian woman who had stage four lymphoma cancer. Her organs were shutting down and she had tumors the size of lemons throughout her body.
She had a near-death experience and said when she came back into her body, she knew she was healed and that her body would catch up. Her tumors started disappearing within days and were completely gone within a few weeks.
She credits her healing to her state of mind and says that we're far more powerful than we've been led to believe. Her case is just one of many documented instances where people have healed on their own from fatal and chronic diseases.
The power lies in what you believe and feel. Neither the brain nor the body can tell the difference between a thought and actual reality. When you begin to feel a certain way, you shift your vibration, which in turn shifts all the energy of your cells and biochemistry.
You must train your mind to step into what you want to manifest. Become it in thought, and it will reflect in your physical reality.
How do you connect your mind to your body?

They're always connected whether you're aware of it or not, but you can begin to shift the connection into a positive one starting today.
As Abraham Hicks states often, you are never in need of "healing"–you are simply either allowing or disallowing your natural well-being.
What this means is that when you've been in a negative pattern, or you're sick, it doesn't mean well-being is not flowing to you; rather, you haven't been allowing it due to the vibrational stranglehold you've had yourself in.
You begin lifting this resistance by coming into the present moment and through techniques such as meditation. This lifts the ego's mind chatter and allows your vibration to begin rising.
What are mind body exercises?
These are some exercises you can try to start connecting your mind and body for well-being.
Come into the present moment
Eckhart Tolle recommends a very powerful technique in his book The Power of Now: coming into your body, which brings you into the present moment. He says to do this, start by feeling the energy in your body, as if your skin is just a thin veil containing this energy.
You can start by trying to feel the energy in your hand, for example, and once you feel it, move the feeling up to include your whole arm. Continue until you can feel the energy flowing and pulsating through your whole body.
Every time you do this, you are brought into the present moment. Once you feel it, try to continue and hold the feeling while you observe life going on around you. You cannot be present in your body and not in the mind as well.
I do this technique all the time and it brings deep feelings of peace and wonder, which I believe is the Soul coming through unfiltered. In the present moment, you don't feel negative emotions because there are none there; those are tied only to the past or future.
In the present moment, you just are. You find so much appreciation and wonder in the present moment, and this instantly and majorly lifts your vibration, which affects the whole energy of your body.
Visualize & feel

A way to intentionally begin shifting your body's biochemistry is to feel it into existence.
How do you want to be? How do you want your body to feel? Ask yourself these questions and imagine yourself in this new reality. What would be different?
Pick something specific to focus on; for instance, if you want to be able to run again, imagine yourself running. If you want to be able to breathe better, imagine taking deep breaths that fill your lungs up. If you're bed ridden and you want to walk again, imagine walking out into the sunshine.
Now connect this image with a feeling—appreciation, joy, love, excitement. Can you feel it? It might take some practice, but eventually, you'll conjure it. Maybe think of a time from the past when you felt this emotion and use that to help you feel it.
Every day, maybe once in the morning and once before falling asleep, play this image in your head for about five minutes and feel the emotion at the same time. Get lost in it, and let yourself flow with other good-feeling emotions that come up.
Doing this is like pushing a snowball down the hill. At first, it's small and doesn't have much momentum, but when you keep at it, the ball gets bigger and will begin rolling on its own.
Your thoughts and emotions are that powerful.
Meditate

Meditation is so powerful because it quiets the ego, which allows your vibration to rise.
It takes practice as well, but if you can just sit and listen to a sound in the room, such as the hum of the air or fan, your mind will begin to silence itself.
Every time you realize a thought has come to your mind, just gently release it and go back to focusing on the sound. Doing this for twenty minutes a day realigns your energy, raises your vibration, and puts you on a wavelength of things of the same vibrational level (aka GOOD things).
You can also do guided meditations. This one by Dr. Joe Dispenza is by far one of my favorite guided meditations, specifically for connecting the mind with the body.
In conclusion
The mind-body-spirit connection is just a term that refers to all that you are. That you're not just a body or mind, that you're far more complex and powerful than that.
When we realize this power and awe-inspiring truth about ourselves, think about all the possibilities that begin to unfold. Think about the fear that begins to melt away; the feelings of joy, love, and wonder that we begin to realize are always flowing to us.
All you have to do is remember that your thoughts are how you create reality, your emotions let you know if your thoughts are helping or hindering you, and that all energy disruptions can be easily fixed.
We just have to open up, release the fear and let the well-being flow.
