A selenite wand is a powerful tool to have on hand for a variety of purposes, ranging from energy work to connecting with higher levels of consciousness.
In this article, I'm going to share the five main ways I use my selenite wand on a weekly basis.
Selenite crystal uses
Selenite is typically used for cleansing and clearing energy. It clears the auric field, unwanted energy in the body or surrounding environment, and other crystals.
This crystal is associated with the crown chakra, which represents spiritual connection and transformation, as well as the third eye chakra (intuitive knowing). It is excellent to work with during meditation, channeling, or connecting with your higher self or spirit guides.
The name selenite came from the Greeks, who name the crystal after their moon goddess Selene. It has long been used by societies all over the world for spiritual, emotional, physical and decorative purposes.
What selenite is made of
Selenite is a crystallized, semi-transparent form of gypsum, which is a soft sulfate mineral.
It is most often found in Mexico, Poland, Russia, Greece, Japan, Australia, Argentina, Brazil and the United States, although it can be found all over the world.
Because selenite vibrates at a very high frequency, it's a favorite among energy healers and psychics alike.
5 healing uses of a selenite wand
Selenite has always stood out to me and is the crystal I find myself using the most often. It possesses a very ethereal energy, and I incorporate it into my energy routine on a daily basis.
I've read of crystal healers who use selenite wands with the precision of a surgeon in order to heal the energetic body. The point of the wand helps to focus, target and then diffuse energy in a specific part of the body or chakra.
I'm not a crystal healer or even an expert, but I have experienced the healing power of daily energy maintenance with simple exercises, and a selenite wand has played a big part of that for me. Here are the following five ways I use this amazing tool.
1. Meditation & anxiety healing
Since selenite is associated with the crown and third eye chakras, it is a powerful meditation aid because it clears and opens these higher chakras. When these centers are cleared and open, you'll likely experience heightened mental clarity, alignment with self, as well as stronger psychic senses.
If I'm sitting up, I will hold my selenite wand in my hand, or if I lay down I prefer to lay the wand down the middle of my chest.
When I meditate holding selenite, I reach that detached-from-my-body feeling much quicker, and often I get so relaxed that I fall asleep.
Since you are the highest power and the wand is the aid, it helps immensely to employ creative visualizations when using your wand. Your subconscious mind is very literal and this type of positive imagery causes actual change on an energetic level first, then correspondingly on the physical level afterwards.
Selenite properties really help to calm the mind, so even holding it while taking deep breaths is something I will often do if I'm feeling anxious or overwhelmed. You can even sleep with selenite under or near your pillow while you sleep for encouraging a deep peace of mind.
2. Clearing the auric field
Everything shows up in our auric field, or energy body, first before it shows up in our physical realities. For example, I recently read about a study done which found that ovarian cancer had shown up energetically 7-8 years before it manifested physically.
This is because we are energy first. Our thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and bodies. Everything comes through energy first and then manifests into this physical environment second.
We have seven main energy centers, also known as the chakras, and many energy "highways" (meridians) throughout our bodies that create the beautiful illusion that is your physical body.
I do a quick energy routine every night, which you can read here, and I love using a selenite wand to clear my energy field. You can simply take the wand and run it down all around you, as if you're combing your aura.
As I do this, I like to visualize each chakra like a little windmill lighting up and spinning. You technically do not need a wand (because your hands are electromagnetic and do a fine job of moving energy in your field) but I do enjoy the calming and healing vibration of selenite, so I use mine frequently.
3. Releasing energy blockages in the body
This is one of my favorite things to do with my wand because I can actually feel energy shifting. After watching a reiki practitioner plucking negative energy from clients auras, I got the idea to do the same with my selenite crystal wand.
I had been having neck pain, so one night while I was using my wand to clear my field, I pointed the wand directly at the tight area of my neck, twirled it around it small circles and then gently plucked it back. I envisioned pulling and discarding stuck energy that was causing me pain.
If you can connect the negative energy to an emotion you've been feeling–even better. For instance, I envisioned plucking fear from my neck, because that's what I was experiencing on an emotional level.
Combining the power of the mind with a high frequency, healing tool such as selenite can produce some very surprising results.
4. Cleansing & amplifying crystal energy
Placing selenite near other crystals will cleanse and charge them. If you haven't cleared your crystals in awhile, simply place selenite around them. There are even selenite slabs that you can place your crystals on.
You can also amplify the energy of a specific crystal you're working with with your selenite wand.
For awhile, I was keeping a grounding stone and my selenite wand next to me on my nightstand. This amplified the energy of the grounding stone and produced a super calming vibration. I also frequently combine amethyst with selenite when I want even stronger clarity or stress relief.
You can simply hold your chosen crystal in one hand and selenite in the other, or keep them in close proximity to one another.
5. Connecting with your higher self
As I mentioned earlier, holding selenite while meditating really helps you to focus and go within. For this reason, it is excellent to use when you are wanting to access your higher self or spirit guides.
Connecting with the spiritual realm is like a radio–everyone has to be tuned in to make the connection. We (incarnated, physically-focused beings) need to raise our vibration and frequency levels. Non physically-focused beings (our higher selves, spirit guides, etc.) do most of the work in making the connection after that.
Your selenite wand, being high in vibration and frequency, helps you to access a higher energy plane. I find that when I'm holding my wand, I access this energetic frequency quicker than I normally do without it. Again, I just simply hold it or lay it on my chest while meditating.
How to clean your selenite wand
Selenite is self-cleansing, but since it does absorb negative energy, it is recommended to periodically charge it under the moon. You can also run it through cleansing smoke such as incense, sage or palo santo smoke.
Selenite is a translucent crystal that is a type of mineral gypsum. It has a Mohs scale value of 2 and is thus classified as a soft crystal that cannot be submerged in water. Though it can be lightly rinsed in water, don't soak it as it will eventually dissolve.
It can also scratch easily, so take care to not place it near anything rough or sharp.
Is it safe to drink selenite water?
Selenite is a fragile mineral that dissolves easily in water, making it not safe or recommended for using when creating crystal-infused water.
Since the selenite surface particles diffuse so much in water, it causes the formation of hydrated calcium sulfate, and this is what makes it a no-go.
There are more stones than not that are better suited for using in crystal-infused water, such as quartz stones and amethyst, so I recommend checking out this list to see which crystals you can use in water.
Are selenite crystals rare?
Selenite is a very common chemical sedimentary mineral and is the most common sulfate mineral. It forms from evaporated sea water and can be clear as glass.
It has the ability to form massive beds hundreds of feet thick and covering many square miles. White Sands, New Mexico is a location you can go to see this.

Thank you for sharing this useful information. I have only just begun working with crystals and my spiritual journey but I have not meditated with the selenite yet. I have a wand and a few slabs so I plan on using them tomorrow during my meditation. I only had them surrounding my crystals for cleaning so I am excited to put this information to use. Thank you so much!

Thank you for taking the time to share this with us all! I, too, very much appreciate selenite for it's ability to quickly move my energy towards the intention I'm focused on and then connect me into such. I discovered this "magic" through tarot, actually, upon concluding that the white wand held towards the sky in The Magician card IS selenite! It's also a very effective way to ground mutt energy simply by pointing it to the earth and swing the intention. ❤

Thanks so much for this article. I too am a blogger and I know that on your end, it's good to know your article and empathy has reached an end goal, aka, an interested reader! I have never worked with wands of any kind or crystals, not because I don't believe in them, because I do, but because I've never needed them. Recently I came across a Selenite wand and was physically and emotionally moved by simply gazing at it. Obviously, I purchased it but wasn't entirely sure what to do with it. so thanks for this article as it shed some light and answered my questions. Blessed Be

This was very helpful and insightful. I started collecting stones late last year and now I have a sizeable collection and selenite and amethyst are what speak to me the most. I'm learning that I need to have a relationship with my stones, so this article was timely and it's just what I needed. Thanks for. sharing your light and wisdom. Sending love and light your way.
